I had a great ten hour sleep last night. Today’s training was especially good. I warmed up for an hour before my three hour session began. The usually stuff happened. We worked on fundamentals. Forehand, backhand, volleys, overhead smashes and serves. It was a blast.
I did learn what I think was a very fundamental problem with my serve. I did not double fault during the last 45 minutes of match play. Placement was perfect again. Speed was whatever I wanted it to be. It is so easy to fall out of the right thing by taking advice from those who do not know. A few years ago before a Tucsan tournament I was told to change my serve. The coach altered pretty well everything about my good working serve. He was convincing. Telling me that certain things were possible that were not. However I did not know at the time that it was his first attempt to train a wheelchair player with able body knowledge. I worked with his advice for over a year. Since then slowly over time I have changed my serve and I had the help of Jane, Brett and Marlin to bring it back to something that actually works. I hope I can remember the ingredients that bring it all together.
