The Cajun Classic

IMAG0632

Arrived in Baton Rouge in the early evening.  The climate is warm and humid compared to the place I have come from.  Our shuttle driver Michelle was great and helped another player, her physio and myself load up the van and take us to the hotel.  Entering the Courtyard Marriot seemed familiar but none of the employees were the same.  Even with the changes the hospitality is great!  Chanelle set me up with a room on the top floor in the corner across the hall from the elevator over looking the courtyard.  I could not ask for a better room.  Thank you Channelle!

The tournament volunteers were welcoming helping with all information regarding the tournament.  I met my singles opponent in the lobby and he informed me that he might not be able  to play as his chair had been damaged during flight.  I have heard that before at other tournaments and I know not to get excited because they always show up on court in a working chair.  He has two days for repairs.

Most players did not notice me but I am used to that.  As I walk around the lobby they do not think I am in the tournament.  I did meet a few I knew and they were welcoming.  It is nice to see familiar faces.

Opening Netflix is always a treat when out of Canada.

I locatede a partner for both A and senior doubles. I practiced with various people and against Mr W.  I was watching the ball well today.  In fact I could swear it was giving me nervous glances back.  Gotta be careful.  I don’t want it to start avoiding me.
