I opened the back door and the torrential downpour started. I thought of what my dad had said to me about a few minutes ago on the phone about not being a good idea to ride today. You know with the weather and all. I proceeded to get my 25 year old mountain bike out for our daily adventure.
Light to moderate cycling, daily, for about ten minutes. I tell you Peter is right about that. I can leave the house with a stiff knee and come back with much more fluidity in my movement. I love the results. Healing methods.
I see this as something I would normally do a few times a year. But soon after I started seeing Peter he insisted that I do a bike ride daily. I do love being on a bike. it feels good. My hips move. I challenge myself with slight slopes in my ten minutes.
It is all different for an amputee. I can only put my left leg on the ground when I have to stop. My right leg does not adjust in length. My prosthesis must go to full extension on the knee and ankle. The ankle does not flex. There is no power from this leg. My seat must be at one height or nothing works. My seat is very high out of the frame. The crossbar must be low enough that when I stand over it I am not compromised in any way.
Fear of falling often comes during my ride.
All good in tennis land. Louis and I played. We did some cross court drills. Practiced serving. Then played a set.
I have played with Louis many times over the years. This session was different. Louis is playing well. Many improvements.
I just felt like I had more time to make decisions. I felt fast and in control of my game. Consistency has to be picked up.
I will play three tournaments this year. Vancouver, Kamloops and Salem Oregon. I will focus on these events. I will surpass me 2015 ranking.
